I attended the Young Lords exhibit held at El Museo del Barrio and the Bronx Museum of the Arts about a month ago on October 3rd. Upon reading a bit about hegemony in “Domination and the Arts of Resistance: Hidden Transcripts” by James Scott I found that the methods used by the Young Lords to support their push for Puerto Rican activism were brilliant. The Young Lords used both public and hidden transcripts in a very fluid way that allowed their views to reach the common people and the officials of New York City in an impactful way.
