Don Juan vs. Dex In many different cultures around the world, Don Juan can be described and found in many literature stories as a “womanizer”. The Trickster of Seville or in the movie The Tao of Steve, are two perfect examples of that. Even if those stories were written in different country and in different time, the idea of this Don Juan is the same. Can those two Don Juan be similar therefore or do they have their differences?
Turning the boy meets girl formula upside down, this screwball comedy The Awful Truth, provides the perfect balance between comedic relief and anti-heroism. Produced and directed by Leo McCarey in 1937, the movie was based on the popular play by Arthur Richman. This comedy utilizes divorce as a gateway into the personas and character development of the film's protagonists, in order to help the audience recognize how they truly belong together. At a time where money was limited, divorce was definitely frowned upon. This juxtaposition created by the film is useful as it creates an escape for the audience into a comedic world.

According to the society norms, it was very rare that a married couple were actually attracted to each other. The individuals couldn’t have gone against the society expectations so, without caring about what they really want, they followed the expectations and married whoever. This shows they could not make any individual life choices without thinking of what everyone else would have done. Not only are the social expectations based on love but also small, foolish details.
During our script reading of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” I’ve had different impressions of characters and themes brought up.
