Don’t Cry Later…Take Responsibility for your Actions! Mathieu Moulinas, a 17-year old male from France, lured his 16-year old friend into the woods on August 2, 2010 under the premises that he had owed her money. Once the two adolescents were in the forest, he sexually assaulted her with a vibrator he found in his parents’ room. Moulinas was sentenced to four months in a treatment facility and released after the therapists stated he was no longer a threat. No records of the sexual assault were sent to the school he was attending, even after Moulinas’ father stated he informed school of his son’s acts of sexual aggression. Big mistake! A lot of young children, that are under the age of 18, lead a life of crime and delinquency. In many situations, the Juvenile Justice Department handles the consequences of the unlawful doing of juveniles and enforce penalties on the juvenile. “The juvenile justice system is a network of agencies that deal with juveniles whose conduct has come in conflict with the law. These agencies include police, prosecutor, detention centers, courts, probation officers/offices, and the Department of Juvenile Corrections.” However, when the young offenders commit a certain type of crime, such as first degree murder or rape, they’re almost automatically waivered into the regular justice system, where they will be tried as an adult. There are certain crimes, no matter the age of the perpetrator and should be punished by receiving the most serious and lasting sentence.
