The book, Stand Out by Dorie Clark, has been recognized as one of the prominent books to read for business owners and entrepreneurs to get started on the right track. As, society continues to evolve, so should a person with a great idea. The common lifestyle of a worker, hoping to excel in a company by working hard and having tunnel vision to other opportunities has become less likely to happen because of world we live in today. Now, don’t get me wrong, working hard can contribute to success but being uniquely valuable to a company or brand, has a higher value of leading to a person’s success.

One of the examples Clark mentions during this conference was the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz. She states in this conference “Howard Schultz didn’t invent coffee, he didn’t invent coffee shops. What he came up with was a slightly different way to do a coffee shop.” To stand out from the competition, you don’t have to be the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, you just have to think outside of the box.

I believe this book Stand Out, is a great for anyone who needs inspiration to take the leap of faith and follow an idea for their business or personal brand. Even if you feel that you’re not creative enough to come up with an idea or be recognized for a specific talent or skill, this book can contribute to opening your mind to other opportunities you may have never thought about.
