The Dover Intelligent Design Trial
The Dover Intelligent Design controversy was all about policy introduction of the intelligent design into the biology syllabus. It was passed by the area school board in Dover, Pennsylvania. The initiative attracted both national and international attention in the media. The matter faced a lot of opposition which further led to parents from Dover in 2004 to file the issue in the federal court. They argued that introduction of the intelligent design into the biology curriculum was not scientific at all, and they were against it been taught in primary schools. The filing of the case fetched both national and international media attention as it was to determine whether the course would be introduced into the biology curriculum and further whether it would be taught in primary schools.

For instance, the biology teachers were not after the implementation of the intelligent design policy, especially the head of the science department at Dover High School opposed the incorporation of the intelligent design plan into the biology curriculum. On the other hand, the students also rejected the incorporation of the new course into their syllabus as it was cumbersome to cope up with it. The American representatives stated in the press that the Dover Area School Board was acting in an unconstitutional way hence a lawsuit was an appropriate step to take. Other state holders in the district like the Dover district superintendent recorded that no teacher was supposed to teach intelligent design, creationism to the students. It contradicted with the District Area School Board ‘s change to the curriculum and the verbal disclaimer.
