"It's a toy truck. He's saying it's a toy truck." Florida police yell to the dispatcher as they try to safely arrest an autistic man, Arnaldo Rios, who has a toy truck pointed to his head. Police assume the truck is a weapon and try to arrest Rios. Arnaldo's therapist , an African-American by the name of Dr. Charles Kinsey, attempts to comfort and protect Rios as the police point guns and scream for him to lay on the ground with his hands up. As he follows exact instructions, police are still leery of him. While on the ground with his hands in the air, Dr. Charles Kinsey is shot in the leg as an armed policeman, Jonathan Aledda, fires for no apparent reason.
To make matters worse, Florida police vet of sixteen years, Emile Hollant, is suspended because of misleading statements during the investigation. The actual officer

Kinsey was not suspended nor was he suspended or put on administrative leave. This entire situation is just tragic no matter how you think about. Dr. Kinsey is shot while clearing adhering to all instructions and demands given by the police, unfortunately, he gets shot regardless. Secondly, police say that in an attempt to detain Mr. Rios, they try to shoot him to protect Dr. Kinsey but shoot Kinsey instead. This statement does not correlate with what really happened. If Aledda weas really trying to protect Dr. Kinsey they would have continued to shoot and successfully shot Mr. Rios, but only one shot was fired and it was very clear who the target was. I do believe that not all police on the scene were crooked and evil. I believe that the one police officer who shot Dr. Kinsey surprised his comrades by his actions, but they would cover for him at all cost, even if that meant lying during the investigation and being suspended without pay. Clearly Dr. Kinsey was no threat to anybody, so why was he shot? No one will ever really know the truth, but it is clear to see that the life of blacks does not matter in this
