I nominate Dr. Nick Lynchard because he’s a very influential teacher and cares deeply about his students. When I tool Psy 101 with Dr. Lynchard he spoke about more than just his subject matter and focused on teaching us things about academia that nobody else does at this level. I’ve never been concerned about how my outward appearance or the way I carried myself would matter in meeting people or getting accepted into better colleges. He taught me about how to get in to graduate school and the politics behind that and what I could expect. Natalie Orlowski October 10th, 2015 In the book, The Crucible by Arthur Miller the large and diverse characters add to the story, with their dialogue and personas. Some of the characters change from good to bad, or change their opinions during the course of the plot, but others like Judge Danforth are static and remain the same, with the same viewpoints throughout. He stays stubborn, is unjust and believes in witchcraft from beginning to end of the book. The first trait Deputy Judge Danforth has is that he believes in witchcraft and the girls from the start of the book until the end.
The main character in the short story “Harrison Bergeron,” written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr, is a fourteen-year-old boy named Harrison Bergeron. He escaped jail, where he was detained for suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government. He is committed to become the Emperor, but not everything went as planned. In the story, Harrison Bergeron expressed that he was talented, strong willed, and extremely strong. Harrison Bergeron was quite talented.

Literature 1 Michael Arroyo August 28, 2015 4th Period “As Simple As Snow” by Gregory Galloway “As Simple as Snow” is a mystery novel made in 2005 that may confuse people’s minds with all the art, magic, codes, and love while reading. As a teen age boy who wants to find the secrets his girlfriend who left behind all these mysteries after her odd disappearance. It also tells about the lost gothic girl, Anna Cayne, who meets the young high-school aged narrator. Throughout the postcards, a shortwave radio, various CDs, and many other irregular interest.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.
“The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell is a story about a man, Sanger Rainsford, whose ideals and overall character change throughout the story, specifically about hunting, due to his encounter with General Zaroff. At the beginning of the story Rainsford is a stuck up man. He could not care less about any other living things other than humans. He believes all living wildlife are expendable and only there for his pleasure of hunting. During the story Rainsford has to make many quick and overall difficult decisions during his encounters with the ocean, General Zaroff, and the island wilderness to survive, that change how he thinks about animals.
In the foreword of the novel, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, there is a quote that reads: “But it’s so much more than a book about depression. It’s about the promise of hope, strength, and the desire to live” (Cohn 1). This quote describes the feeling of the whole novel, which is about a kid named Craig Gilner who is battling depression, but also figuring out who he desires to be. Consequently, you’ll soon detect that Craig has an unexplainable strength that he doesn’t think he has till later through his journeys through a psychiatric hospital. In this journal I will be evaluating the person that is Craig Gilner, visualizing the psychiatric hospital he sojourns in, and predicting what choice he will compose when it comes to his life.
In the novel Wonder by R.J Palacio, a number of symbols help to show Auggie's journey as he goes through the struggles of school. The different symbols and how they represent Auggie's journey are referred to throughout the novel. Auggie's masks, his Padawan braid and the universe are all used to symbolise his journey. In the dystopian novel,The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, the theme set is,”Keep your self control. ”This is because the character Haymitch Abernathy is a alcoholic that is intoxicated most of the time to cope with the trauma, and remorse that the Hunger Games affected him with when he was a tribute, but can control his addiction when necessary. Some of his character traits that help to better develop and progress the theme include having self control, being incredibly smart, and being cunning. To begin, the first character trait that Haymitch Abernathy shows that develops the theme is having self control,which means that he drinks the pungent, and putrid drink that is alcohol, but he can stay sober in times of need like when mentoring
Edward Britton by Gary Crew and Philip Nielsen tells the story of young British boy, Edward Britton. Who he believes was wrongfully sent to Port Arthur. It illustrates the hardships and struggles of being transported to Port Arthur and living a convict life as a young boy. He was not afraid to tell people what he thought, and was very brave. He is very well educated, and is clearly far more smarter and talented than other convict boys.
The play, Antigone written by Sophocles, presents a tragedy that fits the classical definition, but it is the story of Creon, the king of the main character. Creon starts out as the king of Thebes , Creon’s tragic flaw is his pride and his arrogance which caused him reflecting upon his mistakes making him a broken man, recognizing what he did to his niece, he is a character within Antigone, even though he was portrayed as an antagonist he was the main character since he was. Creon’s tragic flaw, hubris, causes his downfall. Creon will not listen to anyone.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.
Stephanie Plum, Morelli, and Ranger are three main characters in the book, One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie is a young woman struggling to get by in the city of Trenton, New Jersey. After losing her job, she goes against her family’s request and gets the dangerous job of a bounty hunter. She gets assigned Joe Morelli, who was accused of murder and who happened to be a childhood enemy. Stephanie is very inexperienced and receives help from a professional bounty hunter, Ranger.
