In American Motion Picture history there has been many exhibitions starting from vaudevilles to nickelodeons to movie palaces. By the 1940s a new type of exhibition which will completely change the way many view movies began to arise at a rapid pace. The exhibition is a drive-in movie theater which is another form of watching a movie; however, in this case the audience enjoys the movie in the comfort of their own car and not in a seat. The drive- in theaters brought new ways to enjoy movie with the serving of full meals and recreational activities for children. The drive- in throughout the 1940s and 1050s assisted the audience by giving them a new form of movie going; out of envy the conventional theaters and industries correlated to movies were making it difficult for drive-ins to have fair treatment when it came to the policies of renting and fair rates.
Drive-ins began to emerge after the Second World War ended and the production of automobiles began (Norman and Marc 69). This can be demonstrated through the statistic that before World War II there were only 60 drive-ins and after the World War II, years 1946-1951,the amount of drive-ins rose to two thousand. In addition, the drive-in was more family friendly for children due to the recreational activities they had for children to enjoy. The film industry made it difficulty to the drive-ins by not allowing them to have firs run movies. Conventional theaters grew hatred due to an assumption in which drive-ins were stealing the audience from their theaters. The automobile industry developed tinted windows which caused issues from the audience in viewing the movie. The drive- in theaters despite having to confront the industries and having issues with conventional theaters they had the chance to show the mass audience what they had to
