The United States and Japan fought in World War II during 1941 to 1945. Japan planned to expand their land and gain resources- which led them to invade China whom was an ally of the U.S. In result, the United States cut off the supply of oil to Japan. On December 7th 1941, Japan’s air force did a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor because that is where their military base is located.
Dropping a nuke on a country can cause lots of difficulty. The Americans dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was the most controversial topics in American history. Truman was the active president who made the final decision for this act. Many people believe that Truman made the correct decision while others are in complete disagreement with the decision. President Truman made the correct choice in dropping the atomic bomb because it showed the United States had power, it helped end the war quickly, and saved many lives.
The dropping of the atomic bomb was a pivotal moment of U.S. history. Harry S. Truman was put under a lot of pressure and spent a lot of time trying to decide whether to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki or not. There were many people telling Truman reasons why he should or should not drop the bomb as well. As for my opinion, I think that Harry S. Truman should not have dropped the bomb. The atomic bomb is dangerous and, in my opinion, should not have even been made in the first place because of how life threatening it is.
Paul Ryan once said, “If we don't make tough decisions today our children are going to have to make much, much tougher decisions tomorrow.” This is relevant to Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb because he had to make a difficult decision that affected many people and their children. Harry Truman made the right decision in dropping the atomic bomb. The atom bomb should have been dropped because it saved millions of American lives. Also, the atomic bomb was an extreme form of revenge for the attack of Pearl Harbor.
The releasing of the atomic bombs to intimidate the Soviets in the years after World War Two is a valid claim because the war in Japan was virtually over, the United States thought detonating the bombs would make the USSR controllable, and the United States wanted to avoid an alliance with the Soviets. Since the atomic bomb bombardment was very late in the war, it might have seemed unnecessary. As General H. H. Arnold of the American Army once said, “it always appeared to us that, atomic bomb or no atomic bomb, the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse” (Doc B). With the commander of the Army saying that the events at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not needed, it shows that Truman and the White House coordinated these attacks for more than the obvious reasons. Most likely, it was to send a message to communist Russia and Stalin that the United States is a relentless global power equipped with the best weapons.
Was America right to use atomic weapons against Japan? The dropping of the atomic bomb in Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was the end of WWII. However, there has been much conflict considering the use of the bomb. In this essay, I will discuss reasons from both sides of the argument and justify my opinion.
This caused Japan to surrender, and World War 2 ended. The atomic bomb was justified because the U.S. needed Japan to surrender to end the war. The atomic bomb was justified because it was one of the possible ways to end the war with Japan. Document 1, says “They concluded that no technical demonstration they might propose, such as over a deserted island, would be likely to bring the war to an end”. This indicates that there was no other way of using the same strategies, such as island hopping, which was to capture the surrounding islands to invade Japan.
We had given the Japanese plenty of opportunities to surrender and they didn 't. We had warned them that if they didn 't surrender there would be utter mass destruction placed upon them. They chose to ignore it and brush it off. Japan still didn 't surrender after the first bomb was dropped, the emperor of Japan stepped in and gave the final decision of surrendering only after the second one was dropped. This war would’ve gone on for who knows how
“Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.” Harry S. Truman was responsible for making the call to drop the atomic bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed more than 100,000 people in the impact. This event led many people to the same question: Did Truman Make The Right Decision? Even though this happened many decades ago, that decision could end with the human race.
Was the Atomic Bomb Necessary? It was necessary for the United States to drop the atomic bomb on Japan. Truman’s decision to do this was because of the american lives, the Pearl Harbor in general, and bringing an end to it all. This all began when Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor and, for precautions, the U.S. Interned Japanese people here in our country.
Winning the war would require the United States to abandon its absolute commitment its core values of isolationism, humanitarianism, and democracy At the time, it appeared that both Hitler and Japan were bent on total domination. Hitler had taken over nearly all of Europe, and the Japan was expanding its influence in the Pacific. Both nations had demonstrated that they were willing to do anything to achieve their goals. It was not hard to conceive that if Germany was successful, nearly all of Europe would fall.
In the article “Why We Did It” ,it stated that people wanted the war to end (“Why We Did It”, 1995). People were tired of the sacrifice of the army. For better understanding imagine that someone has not seen their friend for a long time because they are fighting a war and they want to see them again and are tired of the war with Japan and just wants this battle to stop. Many people have felt exhausted from the long lasting wars being fought and wanted it to end. Soon the atomic bomb was the solution to end this.
World War II introduced the most dangerous weapon in the world, the atomic bomb. When the US used it on Japan we went to far and caused unnecessary damage to the people. Many people believe this to the only truth but, the real truth is that dropping the atomic bomb was a necessary evil we had to use in order to win the war in World War II and future wars to come. It save many american soldiers lives, stopped the Soviets from joining, and helped us win against Japan. First and foremost, World War II caused many casualties for both sides of the war.
However, Japan was keen on fighting till the very end. As a result, the war was not over. The Allies had to make a decision how to conquer Japan and end the War. The end result was the use of the atomic bomb. Although there is controversy around the use of the atomic bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the use of the bomb is justified because it ended the Second World War.
President Harry Truman gave an executive order in 1945 to drop to atomic bombs in popular downtown cities in Japan. With the guidance of many scientists and political leaders President Truman made the extremely tough decision to drop the bombs. After listening to arguments from both sides President Truman came to the conclusion that dropping bombs would be the best thing to do for this war. It would also show that the United States had an extreme military power. Many American politicians were for the idea of dropping the bomb, because they believed that it was the only way to end the war and get Japan to surrender.
