Rene DesCartes’ theory of Mind-Problem Dualism explains how there are two types of things that can make up a human being, which is a physical body and a soul or non physical mind. Throughout many years of research and study on the subject, we know that mind and body are connected and they can interact. Descartes believed that it is possible to exist without having a body and it’s not possible to exist without a mind. A strength of this theory is the fact the people sometimes believe that the mind can take place in a physical space and in a non-physical space, which leads back to dualism. People who believe and support this theory often believe in an after life, a place where our soul goes to when we die but as we know, not all dualists believe in the life after death. In my opinion, this is a strength of the theory because it gives people something to believe in and something to hope for. Many of us are afraid of death and for some people, believing that there is something after the corporeal life is some sort of comfort, even though there aren’t enough scientific proof of that. …show more content…
