Success in today’s dynamic business environment depends heavily on maximizing the use of Internet-based technologies and Web-enabled information systems to meet the competitive requirements of customers, suppliers, and other business partners in a global marketplace. (O'Brien, Marakas, 2011, pg 16).Information Technology is vital for growth, in a small business.There are several examples that display ways that Duckett's business has grown since using information technology. One example is that it expanded Duckett's market in which she sells products. It took her business from word of mouth sales from being able to serve clients internationally using her website platform. Her website clients who would not normally have access to her services to be able to make orders based on their needs. After losing one of her biggest contracts, the potential client said that without a website, her company “lacked credibility.” It is hard to figure out the mission statement of a company, and the credibility of their mission without a website.
