President Dwight D. Eisenhower had been sending U2 spy planes over the USSR since 1956, but in 1960 one of his planes got shot down while flying over the Soviet Union. His planes were said to have had state-of-the-art photography that could take pictures of Russian newspaper headlines while flying overhead. When one plane disappeared Dwight told people that a weather plane had flown off course and crashed in the USSR. Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas. His parents, David Jacob Eisenhower and Ida Stover Eisenhower.
