How would you react to a school shooting? Most people’s first reaction would be terrified and worried. Most would question why someone would do something like that. Columbine High School was one of the biggest high school shootings. Two teenage boys by the names Dylan and Eric were the ones responsible for the massacre. They were seniors from Columbine High School. Dylan Klebold was a senior at Columbine High School. He was a child of upper middle class parents, also gifted in grammar school. He was the son of an Air Force pilot. He also seemed like a regular kid, playing little league baseball. The Harris family moved to Littleton, Colorado after Eric’s father retired from the military. Eric slowly began to change. Eric developed a hatred for the school and its jock culture. He also kept a journal, but it was less detailed than Dylan’s. He also had a website filled with hate lists. “If you haven’t made a CO2 bomb today, I suggest you do so.” (Cullen, pg.184). Eric and Dylan both shared something similar and that was the hatred for Columbine High School. During high school, Eric and Dylan became close friends. Anyone they believed mistreated them. They were both computer savvy and enjoyed violent video games. They both wore black trench coats and both studied German. They also became Adolf, Hitler, and Nazis. Harris and Klebold were arrested after stealing items from a van they broke into. For about a year, the two prepared for what they call “Judgment Day.” Harris wrote about their plans in his diary and they also made videos. They made bombs and had a few guns.
