In this report, I’d like to explain how we can progress our organization toward our vision of business and technology being more in tune with each other through applications of concepts, such as perception, diversity, and emotional intelligence, to improve and enhance the implementation of EHRs. As of now, we struggle to reach the full potential of implementing EHRs in regard to these matters. Questions and concerns arise on the technology and business side. Employee perception of our organization implementing an EHR needs to be addressed. Resistance to change is an ongoing problem at the individual and organizational level, and using this process we can help prepare our organization EHR users for an introduction of a new system, reduce resistance towards it to influence user attitudes towards the new system.We need a project team, a project team, broad participation, and effective communication. A project team will consist of cross-functional and multi-disciplinary team to ensure the implementation process does not become lost or set aside, and will provide continuous support before, during, and after the rollout of the system. The project champion will lead with a strong influence from within our organization and possess the authority to support and motivate this initiative. A broad participation will engage all staff through the cycle of implementation, keeping them in the loop and responsive to information and processes, and will sustain a high psychological ownership which will in turn promote low resistance to it. Effective communication will encourage meaningfulness and effectiveness of the new system through all the levels of our organization. The leadership in the implementation is important; a guiding team will help foster understanding and eagerness for changes, and help allot tasks best suited for user individual strengths. Incorporating diversity into the implementation team will help ensure success with the new EHR and acceptance from the users because fewer problems and faster solutions will be available. Leaders in the team should possess differing perspectives on how the EHR will be used, a wide array of skills and knowledge, and a positive point of view towards the EHR. Partnering with a vendor who incorporates diversity into their company will have benefits such as them possessing a willingness to adapt its products to our organization's needs and work processes. A good relationship will allow experience, flexibility and cooperativity to flow from both sides. Since implementation requires a high level of emotional labor, emotional intelligence can be used to boost performance in coworkers and subordinates by giving them a leader who possess a high level of EI to model how results can be produced.
