No matter what time zone I am in, my phone buzzes most frequently when I am asleep. Whether a missed call from a friend in Kenya, an email from a musical collaborator in Canada, or a LinkedIn message from a U.K. investor in my educational startup, I eagerly wake each morning to many new notifications. Growing up, I traveled extensively, living on three different continents. In fact, my passport looked like my coloring book. Learning five languages and adapting to foreign environments while maintaining my identity, has taught me to value different skills, including networking.
Growing up in a Christian household has nurtured my walk with God throughout my life. Since a young age, I have known God as my personal savior, but my faith and trust in Him have grown over the past several years. This past summer, I took part in a worship leader internship program at our church, which provided me with the opportunity to plan and lead worship services. Participating in this program helped me grow closer to God, but it also taught me how to be a leader rather than a follower. As God continues revealing His plan for my life, I feel called to attend Verity and to pursue my passion with a career in law enforcement.
Those who attend college right out of high school has an advantage over those who sit out. My first years of college was successful, which makes think I’ve made the right
“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” Ronald Reagan once made this statement and its meaning resonates with me personally. When he made this statement he recognized conflict’s inevitability and the need to have the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully. This reality is what drives me to pursue my Master’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in United Nations and Global Policy Studies. With the rise of globalization it is becoming increasingly important for the US to have representatives who are able to successfully interact with individuals from other countries.
Going to college is probably one of the most important things that I have done in my life so far. Thinking back to everything I have done in the past ten years or so, I can see that taking to leap of faith to join college and further my education was such a huge step for me and I am glad that I did. Before I joined Southern New Hampshire University, I knew I would need some motivation to enroll. I remember a story my father told me about how he had gone to Technical College and became a licensed Master Mechanic and that really motivated me to want to further my education. Also, my brother had talked to me about two months ago and had told me his experience with going to college to earn his English degree and me, being the competitive brother I am, didn’t want him to be the only sibling to earn a degree.
Every student, after he or she graduates from high school will have the choice of attending to a University or a two year Community College. I remember Lee, my friend Joe’s brother, asking me after I finished high school and whether or not I wanted to join to a University or a two year Community College. At the time, it took me a week to answer his question. Similarly, if I was to ask any student where he or she wants to go after they finish high school, one might find that they’ll receive different answers, and for different reasons. For some students it is best to go to community college and focus on getting an Associate’s Degree or taking transferable courses.
My mother and father have always wanted the best for me, like all good parents do. One of the many things that they expect from me is to receive a college education, something that they never had the chance to do. My parents always advise me to not to make the same mistakes as they did, to go to college so I can get a good job and not have to struggle in my life. With no alternative, my father had to drop out of school to help his family financially after his parents had gotten a divorce, and then he had received his GED.
Finding motivation to attend college is easy, keeping the motivation to finish is the difficult part. I decided to enroll in college to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Finance. I hope that the degree will give me the opportunity to apply for a better position within the organization that I currently work for. A secondary goal of returning to school is to demonstrate to my son that attending college is required for many jobs and that returning to school as an adult has various difficult challenges. I have been working for the past nine years as an Assistant Financial Officer and am highly competent at my job.
“ I think, therefore I am” These words of Renѐ Descrates, the eminent mathematician and philosopher have guided me throughout my academic career. With the same preseverance and confidence, I am standing at what may be turning point of my life and career. The sheer variety offered by Materials Science & Engineering and my glowing ambition to pursue a career in research have spurred me to apply for doctoral studies in Big Data Analytics.
I propose to present study abroad opportunities and the Gilman Scholarship at Freshman orientations or Freshman Scholarship programs at A&M. One scholarship program in particular is the Regents scholarship. The Regents' Scholarship objective is to assist first-generation college students in reaching their educational goals at Texas A&M University. The FOCUS program is dedicated to first-year students who are regents scholarship recipients on an ongoing process for undergraduate success. There are other programs that assist Regent scholars as well. I am a regents scholar recipient and my freshman year I was in the program called Aspire, which helped my success freshman year.
The decision to attend college immediately after high school is one of the many challenges high schoolers face upon graduating. There are several reasons why that attending college promptly after graduation is a good idea. It is more beneficial than waiting because one will already have the drive to continue on with school rather than waiting, one will also graduate sooner which in turn will result in better job opportunities, and one is more likely to apply one’s high school knowledge. By attending college immediately after high school, one is more like to continue with one’s momentum. If one stops and waits to return to school, one would lose that drive to challenge that higher education.

It is an exciting time that typically leads to considerable gains in maturity, but it is also a time during which many adolescents experience difficulties.
