Discuss your own college search and how you ultimately chose Union. Prior to any college visits, my dream was always to go to a midsize or big school where there is something for everyone. My dream school varied from Duke to Stanford to University to Texas to Dartmouth. I grew up in a diverse town and had a sizable high school class of 330, with course sizes being 20-25. Yet, I had always wondered what my life would be like if I went to a bigger high school where the sports teams were top-ranked and the number of courses offered were endless. What is your proudest accomplishment at Union?
My proudest accomplishment at Union would be helping organize the event “Battle of the
Bands” in May 2017. This event helped gather people from all over campus, in addition to raising around $6,000 for “Things of My Very Own,” a group that helps out Schenectady children impacted by extensive abuse.
If given a “do-over,” what would you have done differently during your time at Union? If I could have done one thing differently during my time at Union, I would choose
Computer Science instead of Economics as part of my Interdisciplinary major. While pursuing my MBA in Healthcare Management as part of the Leadership in Medicine program, I have taken many similar economics classes between Union College and Clarkson Graduate School and I would have preferred a more diverse course load.
What one piece of advice would you give a Union first-year student? My piece of advice to a Union first-year student would be to go to each of their professors’ office hours the first week of the term.
