The first article I read was from Psychcentral.com, Eating Disorders Including Binge Eating, Anorexia & Bulimia) All About the Symptoms and Treatments of Eating Disorders. In the article, Dr. John M. Grohol stated that there are three types of eating disorders, Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder. Anorexia is the name for simply starving yourself because you are convinced you are overweight. Bulimia is characterized by excessive eating, and then ridding yourself of the food by vomiting, abusing laxatives or diuretics, taking enemas, or exercising obsessively and Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by episodes of binge eating -- eating an amount of food that is larger than what most people would eat and a sense of lacking any control over eating during the episode. These disorders are caused by a complex interaction of social, psychological and biological factors. Wikipedia defined an eating disorders as “mental disorders defined by abnormal eating habits that negatively affect a person's physical or mental health.” (Wikipedia, 2016). In the article, it is said that the cause of eating disorders are not clear but is believed that genetic and environmental factor do seem to play a part in them. Wikipedia also includes and defines the three types of eating disorders which include binge eating disorder where people eat a large amount in a short period of time, anorexia nervosa where people eat very little and thus have a low body weight, bulimia nervosa where people eat a lot and then try to rid themselves of the food, pica where people eat non-food items”(Wikipedia, 2016). I believe this information to be factual because it gives a lot of information about the different types of eating disorders and also treatments that are involved with having an eating
