Other proofs that can be used to prove that this story is set in the Victorian era as there are clerks and poor people mentioned in the story. The Victorian era was an era where many clerks, present, worked as accountants for their business owners. Scrooge himself is a business owner, judging from the counting-house he has to count his profit and administer all of his business matters and Bob Cratchit does this work for him. Also, the Victorian era was an era where the social gaps between those who are rich and poor were clearly in contrast. Many rich in that era have decent privilege. They can have a party like Fezziwig does or handle business like Scrooge does and have a decent dinner like turkey, whereas the poor often are in harsh conditions. They serve as workers and often are underpaid by their employers. The example of poor people is Bob Cratchit, because of his poorness, he cannot give his sick son proper treatment. The place setting of this story is in Great Britain. As this story mentioned London city, which is a city in Great Britain, stated in the quote “It is also a fact that Scrooge had seen it, night and morning, during his whole residence in that place; also that Scrooge had as little of what is called fancy about him as any man in the City of London.” The atmosphere setting of this story is in near-Christmas event.
