Mindfulness is defined as, “paying attention to one’s own ongoing experience in a way that allows openness and flexibility. It is being fully present and aware during our daily activities” (Compton & Hoffman, 2013, p. 90). I learned of mindfulness a few years ago while reading, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and it changed my life. Mindfulness can be used in walking to focus thoughts and experience the surroundings which will lead to well-being because it makes it an experience instead of “just exercise”. Meditation is a practice I will integrate back into my daily routine which utilizes mindfulness and may enhance the possibility of flow.
Positive Health
The word “ingredient” usually makes a person think of cooking a meal or dish. What happens when we are missing an ingredient to a dish? It may not be as flavorful as it could be, that one ingredient could be the key that allows all the other ingredients to “react” and bring the flavors together, or the missing ingredient could cause the entire dish to fail. My creativity has always come from “thinking outside the box”, whether it has to do with work or helping others to see a situation from a different perspective. I have always thought I would enjoy painting but have not felt I would be good at it. I think going to a “cork and canvas” type event would provide me the opportunity to feel comfortable trying to paint. Attending a few events may give me the self-confidence to try painting on my own and allow me to express my thoughts, fears, and happiness in a creative way. My area of interest is in different spiritual doctrines and the people of them, traveling and seeing artwork from different regions of the world would provide insight into the people of the different religions and may allow me to see the bigger
