The Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty that Great Britain, France, the United States, and Germany signed in hopes to end all war. However, the Treaty of Versailles did the opposite and caused WWII by angering Germany and making them pay war reparations. The treaty angered many germans by depriving them of their land. This is shown in Map of Germany in document A, Germany lost parts of Southern Germany, the Polish Corridor, East Prussia, and Northern parts near Denmark. This act prompted Germany to take their land back in means of war.
The hatred caused by the Versailles Treaty made Germany stronger and a force to reckon with. With a lack of support the League of Nations did not have the ability to suppress Germanyś uprisings and growing military. The nations surrounding Germany were already weakened by World War One. In part to that, they also did not want to start another war while they were still recovering. This would eventually lead to Germany starting World War
On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Powers signed the Treaty of Versailles, formally ending one of the bloodiest wars in modern history. World War I caused the deaths of nearly ten million soldiers and up to thirteen million non-combatants. Catastrophic property and industry losses occurred, especially in France, Belgium, Poland, and Serbia.
World War I also had a huge impact on the American foreign policy. The U.S. was isolated but came out of isolationism to join the war. “... Neutrality is no longer feasible or desirable where the peace of the world is involved and the freedom of its peoples…” (Document 4). In his speech, President Woodrow Wilson was telling the U.S. that we were joining the war because he wanted to keep peace in the world for democracies and their people. Another way WWI changed the U.S. foreign policy was by getting attacked and fighting back, taking us out of isolationism.

World War 1 or also known as ‘The Great War’, was an worldwide conflict from 1914 to 1918. A big cause for the war was imperialism. The war was fought between the Central powers ( Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey) and the Allied cause (France, Great Britain, and later U.S.) U.S. remained neutral and sold goods to both sides until 1917, U.S. then later declared war on Germany for many reasons. The contributions from U.S. to the Allied Cause helped turn the course of the war.

In order to put an end to The Great War (later known as World War 1) president Woodrow Wilson created the Treaty of Versailles. The treaty would end the feud between Germany and the Allied powers, along with reassigning German boundaries and making them pay reparations for the war. Therefore, Germany would not participate in signing it. The most controversial part of this treaty was the League of Nations, an international organization to resolve the foreign disputes. United States senators fear that it would cause America to participate in more international conflicts, causing them to be against it.

Soldiers fought, slept, and lived in trenches for the entirety of the war. Although, soldiers were not the only ones experiencing poor conditions during the war Citizens, and even countries, were affected by the war in various ways. Citizens in the U.S were stripped of their right of freedom of speech under the first amendment. WWI caused a large epidemic in the U.S regarding health safety.
The United States continued a policy of isolationism up until World War 2. In conclusion, World War 1 changed American society, and foreign policy. American society changed as so women gained the right to vote, women gained more jobs. One thing that happened during the war was the Great Migration, which was when over 6 million AfricanAmericans moved north.
Women and children were greatly affected, as well as the economy and the people in it. Items were rationed for the war and Americans became self sufficient. Ads were displayed for jobs for women. There were also ads for children to collect metal and rubber. Americans were brought together in this unifying event.

The way of America’s life and society had strikingly changed during the time of World War 1. Men were needed at war and the women were left at home or were nurses at war. Many people were even ignored because they had labels on themselves (ex; color, gender, nationality, religion and weight). African American, Asian Americans, Japanese Americans and women (Minority Group) were among the groups that experienced a combination of racism, segregation and prejudice. Being able to overcome negative stereotypes and then still perform roles for the high class giving you this negativity with respect is one of the biggest problem you might of faced if you are a minority.
While the second world war positively impacted many impacts of American society, it highlighted many of the challenges and problems that still existed in the young nation. At the outset of the war, many Americans were still very pro isolationism and did not want to get involved in the war. This fact was reinforced by the Neutrality acts which kept America neutral. However, in order to keep trade and business alive, FDR made the cash and carry policy which allowed the US to sell non-military goods to countries like britain. FDR expanded on this concept when he created the lend-lease policy which permitted the US to sell weapons to britain.
We Americans started to be concerned about joining the war ever since the year 1914. We have seen how other countries have been affected by it and therefore we do not want to be apart of the chaos. The newspaper always have headlines about the many people who died in Europe every single day and it’s definitely horrific. We are happy to live in a safe and peaceful country unlike the others.
Introduction World War I came to an end with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919. The treaty was signed to create lasting peace. The treaty was negotiated between the three allied powers of Britain, France and the United States with no participation from Germany. The treaty 's negotiations revealed a split between the three allied powers with France intending to weaken Germany in such a manner that it would make it impossible for it to renew hostilities. However, Britain and the United States objected to some of the provisions because of the fear that it would be a pretext for another war.
