After the start of WWI, changing the role of women became a huge favorable change for the society. In the December of 1941, Britain put into place the second National service act, and therefore, Britain became the first nation to conscript women in the world and it gave them a part in the conflict in the making of history (hubpages). They had organizations such as the FANY-First Aid Nursing Yeomanry,- and VAD-society of female volunteers which was part of the effort toward war. New jobs opened up for women through ads in newspapers, which included tram drivers, postal workers, police patrols, chemical manufacturers, munition workers, typists, and many more. During WW2 Australian women at the home front played a significant role in not only supporting the Australian troops serving overseas but also prominently they maintained, developed and supported the ongoing economic development of our country. Women during WW2 took on many important roles that without their contribution, Australia would have lost the war. Most women were eager of the new employment opportunities that were created while the males served fighting overseas. They saw the opportunity as learning skills for the future, receiving a regular wage and becoming more independent. Australian women rose to the challenge of war by volunteering their services when manpower was limited and all Australians were needed to help sustain a functioning war economy.
In the beginning, the boys wanted and dreamed to be at home, but at the end, they wanted to stay. This is because the war has changed these young men. The war changed many boys, turning boys into men, men into warriors, warriors into beast. This is the reason why the government lied. They didn’t want old, they wanted the “new generation”
Along with the work force came a change in who was working. During World War I, women had no choice but to work to support the families while their men were off fighting in the war. The womens movement and progressivism throughout World War I made it possible for women to not only continue working but to vote along with all other Americans due to the nineteenth amendment. Not only did Roosevelt help corporations but he also wanted to help Americans that were dying in his American states. President Roosevelt not only helped to put millions on Americans back to work but the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corp and the CWA, Civil Works Administration also help put Americans back to work.
All the new technologies affected the solders one way or another, for instance, the trenches, solders would see the enemy 's coming yes but, also they had to sustain living in mud & filth, littered dead soldiers, and constant fear of attack. Soldiers that survived suffered from psychological problems. Also, poison gas, the gas caused severe problem.
Suffrage is probably one of the most important rights that females received in the 20th century. The war effort was a major contributor to supporting suffrage because it proves that women are capable of doing things that males did. It was also a way to reward many of the women who actively helped the U.S. during WWI. Many women utilized their contributions to help bolster their suffrage cause. World War 1 had a huge impact on women´s lives, it was the spark that lead women have their rights and make a change in society’s perceptions towards women. The reason of this is because during World War 1 men had to go to the war and quit their jobs, this gave women the opportunity to take men’s jobs. More than a million women were able to join the workforce between 1914 and 1918, and they perform many different jobs. Some examples were: postal workers, police patrols, they learned how to produce parts of war machines, they had jobs in the area of engineering and chemical industries, and they were even soldiers. Some of this jobs were also dangerous.

Even though they did not perform tasks that men performed they became nurses and performed clerical work in the military.
During World War II there were many techniques used in Wold War II propaganda posters. Not many people were comfortable with the decision made which involved working females. Many men made that clear in certain posters they hung around. The way things turned out probably wasn't the best but it was done in a rush knowing the circumstances men found themselves under. Some techniques used were to connect with the audience, using negative denotations, and fear.
When thinking about the connotations between female contributions and World War One, individuals often correlate women with helping in industrialized factories and the efforts back home. The plethora of efforts by women often go unrecognized. It is crucial that these women are credited for the immense work that they executed both in America and in Europe, because without the female contributions, the outcome of the war may have not been the same. Through these efforts of American women on the home front and overseas, America was able to provide relief in the war endeavors against the Central Powers and end the Great War.
For a considerable length of time the nations of the European mainland were in little clashes for the extension of their regions, yet these were settled through diplomacy or here and now wars. Some of these nations were buried in inward political clashes with the introduction of new patriot and financial dreams, and uprisings and common clashes against governments were normal. In World War II the role of women changed drastically in Australian society as a result of Australia’s war effort and when the men went off to war leaving all their jobs vacant. Roles, opportunities and responsibilities expanded to WW2. Any women who took a job was somehow taking it from a man; but as the war developed this argument could no longer stand. Women could do the technical jobs normally completed by men, freeing those men for combat (Ergo, 2017). In the women’s lives before WW2 all the women did was clean houses and take care of their family, during the war they took up jobs that the men left behind, after the war they went back to their previous lives (Ergo, 2017).
Women have always played an important role in the history of the United States. Throughout different time periods, their roles in society and in government have changed in many ways. Whether women were helping the war manufacturing effort, striving for suffrage, helping soldiers during the war, or just raising their children; their roles have been influential to the social structure of the United States today. Their desire for equal rights, their willingness to help American soldiers, and the absence of men in the workplace are responsible for the changing role of women.
