Japan’s economic development had been shaped in various ways, including Japanese internal forces, and external forces from other countries. Although during the Tokugawa era, the Japanese were very closed off from the world for 250 years, once Commodore Perry and the rest of America threatened Japan with war Japan was forced to open ports for trade. Due to the Japanese lack of weapons the trading environment was very biased on the side of America with unequal trade. The shogun was once a Samurai and is now almost in control of Japan.

While Brinkmanship was the threat of using nuclear weapons to get an opposing country to back down/consed, Eisenhower used these effectively in the Korean war but there were saw as too dangerous. He used these to easily dispose of the Korean threat by threatening the use of nukes, and all the while, kept communism from spreading into Korea.

They lived under the period of neglect where they can establish a self-sufficient society and developed a unique economic based on the region under the British government. Hoping to form a friendly relationship with the colonies, the Parliament avoid any strict enforcement keep American colonies in North American obedient to England. During the time of 1941 the Japanese economy began to bloom exponentially in the industrial and militarily fields. Japan’s growth occurred due to the trade provided to the country due to its low resources. Acquiring Oil and Metals it allowed the Country to become a contender in their cause against the Allies. However, during this period Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) had his own interests and goals of the war time.
After trade was cut off with Japan, it was thought that it would stop Japan’s expansion, and everything would return to normal. The opposite happened. The trade being cut off led Japan to hold their ground,

The Korean War began in the early hours of June 25, 1950. The North Korean troops carried out their surprise attack on South Korea without any declaration of war. The North and South had experienced some clashes along the 38th parallel before, where North and South Korea had been divided. However, they never had such an unexpected attack in the Southern Camp. They were completely unprepared and weren’t properly equipped for such a sudden event.
Japan’s total control over Korea took many turns as numerous parts of the country quickly became ‘Japanized.’ Before the annexation, the Korean State did not have accurate information on farming land, having no idea if it was being farmed or being owned by someone. As the Japanese came and created new guidelines, situations changed for both landlords and tenant farmers. Produced crops were bought by the Japanese and Korean peasants did not earn any wages. The Japanese also established policies that controlled the properties, productions, and even people.

Graham Rasy Mr. Kramek History Period 5 6/2/23 American Economy During the Cold War “But the biggest thing that has happened in the world in my life, in our lives, is this: By the grace of God, America won the Cold War '' (President George H.W. Bush). The United States was deemed to have won the cold war but it came at a big risk. With the fear of communism at hand, the U.S. created new policies to strengthen the government and improve the economy. However, throughout the Cold War, the American economy suffered greatly from many economic problems.

On July 16, 1945, a massive fireball erupted over the desert of northern New Mexico. Not long after, on August 6, and again on August 15, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, ending World War Two (WWII) and presumably changing the face of war forever. The destructive power of atomic weapons stunned the world and ushered in a new era of defense strategy based on an entirely new paradigm. That paradigm depended on numerous assumptions about the nature of war and conflict in the new nuclear age. After WWI, prevailing assumptions about the viability of nuclear deterrence, the possibility of limited warfare, and the nature of communist expansion, defined US defense policy.
The social outcome for Japan is they had a crucial decrease in birth rate which positively maintained their population. They also dealt with a population shift from the countryside to urban areas. The political outcome of the war is that their armed forces, empire, state organization called “Shinto”, and nationalist organizations were all shut down. Japan’s defense industries were closed down. Lastly, Japan faced an economic shortage because the remaining factories and railroads were no longer able to be used from the bombings of the war.
