The leaves were blowing in the wind. I felt goosebumps trickle down my neck. We continued to walk leisurely down the hill towards the sweet shop. I was beginning to regret coming up with the idea to put the mouse in the jar. Everyone was saying it would be the prank of the year. Miller said, “It will give the old hag a heart attack.” This made me terrified, I didn’t want to do it anymore. However, if I backed out now everyone would think I am chicken. As we turned the corner nearing the sweet shop I knew it was already too late.
We reached the door step of the sweet shop and carefully opened the door, as we entered the floorboards creaked under our feet. It was lightless. I broke into a nervous sweat. Glass on the floor, sweets on the ground. We slowly careened towards the back of the shop. Glass fractured under our feet. We saw her blacked out on the floor with a bat next to her and an empty cash register. The sweet shop had been robbed! I let out a yell that echoed off the walls. Thwaites quickly put his hand on Mrs.Pratchet’s neck. He told us he was alive and that he was going to run to the police station down the road. I still couldn’t believe how brave and quick thinking Thwaites was to run for help. While the rest of us just stood there. He came with three doctors and one police officer. The doctors picked up Mrs.Pratchet with a great effort and took her to the ambulance that they came in. Swiftly the police officer started to ask us questions about what we saw and how we found her. We answered, leaving out why we came to the store in the first place. The police officer told us to go home and not to come back to the sweet shop until Mrs.Pratchet recuperate. On the way out the doctors said Mrs.Pratchet would be fine. Somehow I felt relieved that she was fine, although I didn’t like
