Edgar Allen Poe was born January 19, 1809, and died October 7, 1849, at the age of 40. Poe married Virginia Clemm Poe when she was just 13 years old and he was 27, she was his cousin and he loved her so much that even our generation and generations to come will know because he immortalized it in his work. The death of Virginia really set the path for his life, she seems to be his inspiration for many of his most famous or best-known pieces of work. Even after his other loves and wives, I feel it all still comes back to her and the impact she had on the notable Poe. Virginia Clemm Poe died January 30, 1847.

Poe 's Cause of Death Edgar Allen Poe 's death has been the topic of discussion for many historians and scholars for many years. The reason for his demise has been unsolved, because of the many different sources explaining his death. From what I 've learned from reading counts of Poe 's death, I 've concluded that Edgar Allen Poe died of rabies, rather than alcoholic intoxication. The reason why I believe it is rabies is because his symptoms were too severe and life threatening to be related to just alcohol. One reason of why I believe Poe died of rabies is because he exhibited signs and symptoms of late effects of rabies.
Edgar Allan Poe spent most of his life in a restless search for literary recognition and financial security, but he finally found what he was looking for in a small wooden farmhouse now located at Kingsbridge Road and the Grand Concourse in Bronx, New York. In April 1844, he and his wife, Virginia, moved to this small cottage and hoped that the country air would rescue her failing health. Despite Poe’s efforts to save his wife by escaping to the quiet cottage surrounded by fields and orchards, she died of Tuberculosis. Even after his death, Poe’s literary masterpieces were still widely recognized and his home became something of a literary landmark. The New York Shakespeare Society decided to raise funds to move the tiny cottage across the street to a public park.

He was given money by John R. Thompson before his trip over to Baltimore from Richmond but when he was found sitting outside of Ryan’s Tavern, a saloon that at the time was also a polling place for the elections, he was found by Joseph Walker with no money on him and had seemed to be intoxicated and weak. Due to the fact that Poe was found outside of the saloon/polling center seemingly drunk and delirious, with no money, weak, and strange clothes, “cooping” can be viewed as the most plausible cause for his death.

The evidence is from letters sent to a collage supporting the theory on how he died. How he could have died from it, is because the symptoms can stay in your body without showing symptoms.

He also failed at becoming an officer’s cadet at West Point. Despite this, Poe later became a renowned American author best known for his short stories.
