Baby Boomers and older generations love to talk about the simpler times. A world of media transformed generation X. The millennials are rearranging the way we do everything from shopping to interacting. What's next? The Alpha Generation is the next rising group and accounts for any child born after 2010. The world they know is already a different place than generations before have witnessed. Kids today are growing up with tablets and the internet as a never-ending source of education and entertainment. How are we supposed to keep them entertained with crafts that have become outdated? I mean, popcorn string does not have the same allure that it once had.

For every generation before crafts and activities have had to adapt to the interests of the time. When superheroes rose to fame most activities involved wearing a cape. When cartoons were a Saturday staple, so was learning how animation worked and making flip books. Today everything seems to be popular, and there is a niche for every interest. This rising generation does not have the patience to sit through the commercials on cable television. All of their entertainment is easily streamed through Netflix or YouTube. YouTube has become so massive and widespread that youth these days could, and will, spend an entire day watching 5-10 minute videos. Parents do not want their children having this much time watching a screen. A creative project that will get them interested in making their own YouTube videos.
