Introduction
We choose the drawing Composition 2 in red blue and yellow, by Piet Mondrian, and the Scream by Edvard Munch. It was pretty easy for us to decide on painters, because we each found one painting that we liked, and then as a group we chose two of the best ones. We chose the Composition 2 in red blue and yellow because of its simplicity, it is simple yet modern and colorful. When we looked up Mondrian drawings, this one caught our eyes most. On top of that it is very different than the Scream.

Pieter Cornelis "Piet" Mondrian was born on 7th March 1872 in Amersfoort, Netherlands and died on 1st February 1944 (aged 71) in Manhattan, New York.
Mondrian is one of the founders of the Dutch modern movement De Stijl. He was very affected from Picasso’s paintings he was also affected from Fauvisme and Cubism. He was exposed to art from a very young age, his father was a qualified art instructor and his uncle was an artist. Mondrian saw the art as a kind of religion and he was also one of the first people who used the style of abstract art in his masterpieces. After WW1, Mondrian returned to Paris, he was there for 27 years’ time period and in this time period he created the painting “Composition 2 in Red Blue and Yellow”. There are also few lines who separate the squares from each other’s, the lines are in different sizes if it by their actual size or by their thickness. “Composition 2 in Red Blue and Yellow” is now held in a private collection.
If you look at his other paintings you can see that his paintings are very similar to each other’s and that he used the same technique, colors and shapes.
