I am wring in support of Edward Briseno as a potential scholarship recipient. I have watched Edward grow both as a student and as a responsible young man. Edward is diligent, kind, respectful, quiet, and dedicated to becoming the best all-around person he can be. Edward is devoted to his studies; he takes time to understand the work and practices until he gets it. He does the same with his extra-curricular activities. If he is going to do anything, he is going give it all of his effort and put his best foot forward.
Edward has been a quiet leader at Mount Sacred Heart, leading by his word and example. His peers respect him because of his calm demeanor and his equal treatment of all classmates. He is always willing to help a struggling student, volunteer with school events, and is friendly in the halls. As his seventh grade math teacher, I appreciated his determination and perseverance when he faced challenges. Edward frequently asked questions, attended tutoring when he was unsure of his abilities (though he often knew more than he gave himself credit for), and was willing to do more practice problems to ensure mastery of skills. Edward helped others feel more comfortable about asking questions in class. As an eighth grader, Edward continues to excel in the classroom.
As a middle school student, Edward has been involved in several school activities. He has participated in the school athletics program, musical theatre, PSIA, and Christian Fellowship of Athletes.
