The environment could be at risk if animals start going extinct. Every animal has a job to do, for example, a bumblebee helps pollinate plants. Without the bumblebee the plant population would decrease and that would affect all the animal because plants give off oxygen, and almost every living thing needs oxygen to survive. Without animals, everything would just fall apart and start dying. If the top predator of the food chain were to disappear, other animal populations would start to overpopulate and that would also affect the environment. For example, when the wolf population went down, the elk population grew causing the willow trees to decrease, and when the willow tree population decreased many birds lost their homes, causing the insect
