The Articles of Confederation was written by Congress. Benjamin Franklin was the first to make up an article and to present it to Congress in July 1775, his draft was never fully considered. John Dickinson from Pennsylvania was the fourth to submit a draft for the Articles of Confederation. Dickinson’s third summit was presented to Congress.

The Articles of Confederation were the first constitution of the United States. The Constitutional Convention was a meeting held in Philadelphia between May and September of 1787. Delegates from a portion of the original thirteen colonies of the United States came to fix the problems of America’s weak central government. There were many important people involved, compromises, and agreements made during the making of the constitution.
Written in 1787 and established in 1788, The Constitution is one of the most famous government systems in the world, laying down the foundation for the world we know today. It’s predecessor, the Articles of Confederation, was not nearly as long-lasting, being scrapped after just 10 years. However, both documents had a similar idea: giving power to the people and preventing the rise of a king. One huge difference is that the Constitution established a much stronger government than the Articles of Confederation. With the Articles, there was almost no government, leading to big problems.
Constituion The Articles of Confederation was the first written Constitution of the United States and it tells how the national government was established in. The Articles of Confederation was ratified on March 1, 1781. Without the Articles of confederation Congress felt as if we had a weak union and this would make it stronger. The Constitution is needed because it gives us the basic rights people of the United States have today.
As it applies to the Articles of Confederation there were many weaknesses in the way it went about governing the United States. For one, the loose federation of the states was too weak to act as a foundation to be considered or act as a central government. In addition the state legislatures had too much power and in turn had the ability to influence economic issues of all kinds. This strong legislature is the same one that allowed for mob ruling and actions by debtors. The Articles of confederation were also weak because the required congress to have all 13 colonies in agreement when a new tax was to be passed.
At a time many thought that the effects of a revolution would cause another one. The Articles of Confederation was the center of attention for this problem. After the fight for Independence the new America had to have a type of government. The Congress of this newly established nation created the Articles of Confederation. Of course problems would arise due to the ability of them knowing what they didn’t want when they should’ve known what the should have.
In 1777, the Continental Congress completed the first written American constitution, the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was created to form an alliance between the 13 colonies. It was working out well in the beginning until serious problems started to appear. Those were money problems and most importantly, a weak government. One issue the Articles of Confederation had, was the major money issues inflicted upon the union which harmed the coherency of our country.
5 Introduction The Constitutional Convention was called to order so that the Articles of Confederation could be amended. However, the Founders soon realized the Articles of Confederation provided an insufficient platform of which to erect necessary safeguards of democracy including, separation of powers, and federalism. Establishing a new constitution was not an easy feat. Many different clashing ideas would have to be weighed, measured, and agreed upon.

The Articles of Confederation go through a long and difficult process. After the Independence War in 1776, the 13 states adopted the Articles of Confederation; it could not solve the problems in early time of America completely. It played an important role in the history of America, because these Articles influenced the Constitutional Convention and promoted the development of history of the United States. Even though the creation of a constitution wasn’t the main objective of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, it definitely helped shape the United States to the country it is today. The Articles of Confederation, which was adopted in 1777, didn’t go as planned and left the United States bankrupt in 1786 (Linder). Realizing the major issues that have occurred, the Continental Congress finally called to meet in May 1787. Among the fifty-five delegates at the convention was George Washington. Before becoming our nations first president, Washington was one of the key leaders in creating our constitution.
Before the government we have today was created we originally started off with the Articles of Confederation. This first form of government was weak since it couldn't enforce laws, regulate trade, and collect taxes. Even in this weak state, it continued to weaken. Around this time a rebellion named Shay's rebellion happened which made people fearful; causing them to want a stronger government. Therefore action was taken to change the articles of confederation.
All 55 members of the Constitutional Convention met up in Philadelphia May 1787 trying to ratify the Articles of Confederation, but then formally decided to make a new constitution. The constitution would have a chief executive and a court system to create a strong central government piece by piece without having tyranny. A tyranny is described as harsh power in one individual. Although trying to make sure no one overpowers the country was a challenge,the delegates found a way for the constitution to protect against tyranny by having federalism, checks and balances and the division of powers.
