Overlea Boulevard, in the Thorncliffe Park community, has been identified by the City of Toronto as a main street corridor that requires a new plan to address the transition of land uses in the area and to more readily address the needs of the residents within the community. The community has a significant south Asian immigrant population in addition to various other ethnicities that live within the immediate area. It is estimated that the area immediately south of Overlea Blvd. and along Thorncliffe Park Dr. has a population of over 30,000 people. Besides the pressures of housing and providing services to such a populous and diverse community there is the need to provide community-gathering spaces and to improve Overlea Blvd.
“Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury imputes many powerful yet relevant messages. One of those being the topic of abortion. In Bradbury’s world the value of human life is valued so little while in our world it is valued so greatly. “Fahrenheit 451” should continue to be taught in schools because of the relevant topic of abortion, in Fahrenheit life isn’t valued as it should be, the case of Roe vs. Wade is a very relevant subject in our world, and many people in Fahrenheit don’t want children so they take for granted their abortion rights.
Don Marquis’s purpose to his essay is to set out to prove that abortion is seriously wrong. He is addressing that abortion is morally wrong and should not be permitted except in certain cases. The authors thesis is “Abortion, except perhaps in rare instances, is seriously wrong”(Marquis, 754). Marquis’s purpose for exceptions or rare instances is to eliminate those instances that could be considered ethically controversial such as cases like abortion after rape or abortion during the first fourteen days after conception. Marquis provides another exception in the form of a pregnancy that could endanger a woman’s life and abortion when the fetus is anencephalic.
The book argues that by promoting inclusivity and diversity, social differences cannot stand in the way of ethnic groups interacting in positive ways. Patrick Lee and Robert George assert that abortion is objectively immoral. One of Lee and George’s main reason for coming to this conclusion is that human embryos are living human beings. This essentially validates that abortion is indeed the process of killing a human. Another main point said by the two is a rebuttal to a common argument used in favor of abortion, which states that a potential mother has full parental responsibilities only if she has voluntarily assumed them. The rebuttal to this was that the potential mother does indeed have special responsibilities to raise the child.

The city of New York has been a place of immigration since the beginning and is the most diverse area in the country. Looking closer we find that Queens is the most diverse borough of the city (Starr, 2015), with Astoria as the most diverse neighborhood. There are multiple immigrants from multiple origins and many of those immigrants in Queens originate from Asia, more specifically China. The highest concentration of Chinese immigrants is in Main Street, Flushing, often called the other Chinatown of New York.

Michael Tooley takes a liberal approach on abortion. He believes that killing a fetus is morally acceptable. He debates that abortion during any stage of pregnancy should be accepted with his reason being that a fetus does not have “a serious right to life”. In his work "Abortion and Infanticide", he discuss "what characteristics [a fetus] must have in order to be considered a person." He believes that a person’s identity is progressively attained, and the fetus is not a person until birth.
Abortion is an ongoing ethical issue that attracts many different views from various races, religions and ethical groups. Deontological or teleological views are two major categories that many major religious views can be sorted into. An ethical issue is a problem or situation that requires a person or organization to choose between alternatives that must be evaluated as right (ethical) or wrong (unethical). Deontological points of view, such as Kant, are ones that involve always telling the truth and that all morals are related universally. For example this means that you can’t lie, even if someone close to you is in danger.
