Egyptian American people are usually being described either middle eastern or even as an Arab. Although, Egypt is located in African, but no body describe Egyptian as an African American. Mena while, not all the Middle Eastern nations are considered to be Arab countries like Turkey, Afghanistan and Iran. Furthermore, other terms applied to identify middle Easter are Muslims or Arab Americans. Although, the Islam is the predominant faith in the Middle East, most of Arab Americans are Christian. It is important to acknowledge the Islamic culture as dominant culture at the Middle East as it has not only affected the Muslim people over there, but it also, affect the Christian population cultural values too.
The Arab American population may share a common core values, but Coptic Egyptians have their own unique values that based on religion of Christianity. The two primary core values that been share by the Arab Americans are the collectivism and the paternalism. In collectivism, the Arab Americans value the interdependency among their national group and religious group. It is more common for aging parents to reside with younger generations that to be in retirement home communities. Paternalism is a solid value that 's been upheld by the tradition middle easterners where the father or other male members of the family exercise the greatest authorities. Although, in contemporary middle easterners Americans ' decisions are prepared by both collaborators, the male of the family member still represent the family representative.
