The Earth is such a gigantic planet, it is filled with so many different types of places, people, and culture. As humans started occupying the earth, the differences among them started to become interesting to other people across the globe. Tiny societies that later grew into giant cities throughout time started developing their own culture, religions, values, practices, etc… Carl Sauer mentions that cultural landscapes is the characteristics and tangible outcomes of the complex interactions between a human group and its natural environment. Over time people throughout time shape the natural landscape and accommodate their needs.
El Paso, Texas is located on the border between the United States and Mexico. Although they are two very distinct and different places, they share many of the same cultural practices. Many people in El Paso speak english and spanish or a combination of both called spanglish. Living by the border allows the interconnection of different elements of culture to become intertwined. Predominantly it is a city that is mostly hispanic, but due to the United States Army, There is a military base that is located at Fort Bliss, and all sorts of different people from across the nation come and go from El Paso, But when they go they learn the dynamics that they practiced while stationed here. Borders are special because of the history that has been made there and is subject to change over time. When borders change or lines are moved and have shifted, that changes the way people interact and can have a big impact at how they intermingle. El Paso is a very distinctive place to live, many people enjoy it because of the Texas cowboy country feeling mashed up with Mexican music, mariachies and they both kind of function as a single
