The novel Eleanor and Park encapsulates teenage love perfectly, the innocents, embarrassment, stress and hesitance that fails to be presented in majority of young love stories. The image of a young couple under an umbrella symbolizes the love they share but also how love is a protection from their lives. It served as a sanctuary where Eleanor can briefly forget about her abusive and alcoholic father Richie, he was also included in the word cloud. Park on the other hand had a less sever problem to escape from but his thought that he wouldn’t be able to make his father proud weighed heavily on his shoulders. “Romeo and Juliet” are words that are emphasized in my word cloud because their love was similar, it was forbidden, but rather than because
