Elie Wiesel is not only a Jewish author, he is much more. He is a journalist, human rights activist, a Holocaust survivor, and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. He was born September 30, 1928 in Sighet, Transylvania, being the only boy in the family and having three sisters. Elie, at 15, and his family were forced, to relocate to a Nazi death camp during WWII. In 1945 he and two of his sister were freed from Auschwitz.
The Holocaust started in 1933 and lasted for about 12 years. It was a time were Europe was taken by a German dictator, Adolf Hitler, and his army. They tortured and forced millions of Jewish men, women, children, including Elie Wiesel and Anne Frank. They both encountered different lifestyles and outcomes but they also have somethings in common. Elie and Anne both went through the Holocaust with their families.
The book Daniel’s Story describes events that happened during the Holocaust through a fictional character, Daniel. The way the Nazis treated the Jewish people was awful and cruel. Many of these actions made me sick to my stomach, knowing that this actually happened. From his uncle’s ashes being sent in the mail, people beating up the Jews, a SS officer shooting a young boy, and the living conditions of the Jews in the ghetto, these are some of the events that were horrifying.
The Holocaust was a big tragedy that started on January 30, 1933, and ended in 1945.These twelve years affect a lot of people around the world differently mentally, physically and emotionally. There are some people who actually went through this horrible time period and was able to tell their story and some people who left her diary behind for others to tell their story. One book I read that stood out from other books During the Holocaust was The Girl in the Green Sweater: A Life in Holocaust 's Shadow by Krystyna Chiger. The story was told by Chiger herself.

Eliezer “Elie” Wiesel was born on September 30, 1928 in Sighet, Romania. He lived with his parents Shlomo and Sarah Wiesel and his three sisters Tzipora, Beatrice, and Hilda. Before, Elie and his family were taken to a concentration camp, he did his religious Judaism studies at a yeshiva. In May 1994 when Elie was only 15 years old his family was taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland. Elie and his father were sent Buna Werke, a labor camp that was apart of Auschwitz were he and his father worked in horrible conditions.

In Elie’s novel he also provides detailed descriptions of what the victims of the Holocaust had to suffer through, and the different ways the Nazis made them feel like nothing more than animals that are meant to be used for work and slaughtered. One of the first things that Elie and the other Jewish people from his village have to suffer through is riding in a cramped cattle car, as if they were animals.
The Holocaust was a horrible time in the 1940s. Hitler the leader of the Nazi’s had an idea of just having the perfect people which was having blonde hair and blue eyes. Hitler's plan was to kill the people who didn’t have these appearances. Hitler would do this by creating concentration camps that would torture, kill people in many ways which for example burning, starving them to death. In the book Night a book Elie Wiesel a Holocaust survivor wrote, talks how Elie survived those terrible times.
In a span of 10 years, the Holocaust killed over 7 million people, that’s just as much as the population of Hong Kong. In the book Night, by Elie Wiesel, Wiesel shares his experience on how he survived the Holocaust and what he went through. How he dealt with the horrors and even to how he felt of his dad’s death and how he saw himself after it was all over. As he tried to publish it he was constantly turned down due to the fact of how horrid and truful it was. He still tried and tried until it was finally published.

There are many events in history but Holocaust left a permanent scar on the face of history. The event soaked in blood and tears of innocent would be unforgettable. Holocaust also known as Shoah (in Hebrew) was a genocide that took lives of millions of people from different backgrounds. Approximately 1 million Gypises were killed, 1.5 million mentally and physically handicapped people were victims of T-4 program, but Jews where the primary victims and 6 million Jews died in holocaust (Neiwyk and Nicosia). The Holocaust took place between 1933-1945.
