Introduction and Overview of Elizabeth Bathory
Most serial killers are men, Elizabeth Bathory was labelled as one of the most violent futuristic female serial killers in history. She was born August 7, 1560 in the Kingdom Hungary. Her father’s name was George Bathory and her mother’s name was Anna Bathory. Her mother Anna and her father George were part of the Hungarian noble family, the Bathorys. An interesting fact about her parents, they came from two different branches of Bathorys, which technically makes them related. Elizabeth learned behavior from her family members, who she grew up around all her life. I believe she inherited her cruel behavior from her family, which relates to biological basis of criminal behavior. She introduce to crime by husband. He would do all types of cruel things to their servants. The more that he showed her these cruel acts, the more she started to like it. He even taught her a few things about torturing the young girl servants. I believe that killing was a way for her to escape, which relates to the feminist/gender inequality perspective. From my research, she never showed any pity or sympathy towards any of the victims that tortured and killed. She kept doing it for her own sick pleasure. She was really promiscuous, which suggested that she was impulsive, and sensation seeking, which relates to heterogeneity. Elizabeth killed nonstop for twenty years with and without her husband. Research showed that she murdered about 650 victims and kept a journal with all of their names, but the journal was never found. She is a mass murder because she killed three or more victims at her house with no cooling off period, which relates to multiple murders.
