Based on my essay feedback teacher said essay needs to be based on the ethos pathos and logos on the CDC website. Just make sure your following that path and review the teacher’s feedback on your first draft. Doing this will give you an idea if what you wrote is good or if something needs improvement.
Persuading an audience requires a bit of tact and respect. A successful persuasive article treats their opposing side’s position as a valid stance, but respectfully informs that side why their stance does not hold up as an argument as it doesn’t have any real data to support their claim. Lewis is trying to make the audience feel like they have a mission, one that will take them as a community to accomplish. Lewis purposely first leads them with sadness, telling the audience stories of friends and family who face the hardships of the government, but, starts telling them that they are not alone, telling them that they need to work, and finally, telling them that they will succeed. By doing this, he starts with the truth, but ends by motivating the audience of how it isn’t the end.
Stress can be seen in everyone’s life but not everyone reacts to stress in the same way. A friend who just lost his job that helped him cover tuition costs might feel very stressed out. He could have many different potential reactions to his job loss but if one were to apply Lazarus and Folkman’s cognitive theory then he would not be too devastated by this stressful event. With this situation, he would engage in primary appraisal, secondary appraisal and a stress response to tear down the stressful event and figure out what he will do.
Emma Marris uses many types of persuasive elements in her essay “Emma Marris: In Defense of Everglade Pythons”. In her writing she persuades her readers that the pythons should be allowed to be in the everglades since it is not their fault that they are there in the first place. She uses metaphors to relate to the reader and word choice to enhance her writing.
Brutus has already spoke and the people are waiting for Antony to speak. The people of Rome are persuaded that Caesar was ambitious and Brutus, Cassius and the other conspirators have saved Rome. Antony uses rhetorical questions, repetition, and parallelism to develop his message that Brutus and the conspirators are murderers. Antony uses rhetorical questions to develop his message.
Puritans believed that God chose a few people for salvation and that schools should be teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. This sermon was spoken by Jonathan Edwards where he spoke out to his congregation in Massachusetts. Jonathan Edwards made it clear that the non-believers of God would be sent to the fiery pits of hell. Jonathan Edwards uses Rhetorical Appeals, Tone, and Figurative Language to expose his attitude towards “sinners” as not worthy in the eyes of God. Jonathan Edwards applies Rhetorical Appeals with pathos, logos, and ethos to develop fear in the audience.

Mark Twain, an 18th century humorist, was known for his critical and satirical writing. In one of his most famous essays, “ Fenimore Coopers Literary Offenses” Twain addresses Coopers inability to realistically develop a “situation” and his failure to effectively back up his stories in order for them to be more plausible. To dramatically convey his unimpressed and sarcastic attitude, he applies biting diction, metaphors and hypophora throughout this work . By continuously using biting diction, Twain develops a mocking tone towards Fenimore Cooper’s incapability to create even the simplest of storylines. In the title of the work a sarcastic tone is evident; the word choice is utilized to reinforce the argument stating how Coopers work is an offense to the world of literature.
Jonathan Edwards, the preacher from the sermon Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God, preaches to his fellow devotees to God, to "inspire" people to participate in the worshiping of God. In reality, Edward's ineffectiveness in using dysphemisms, hyperbole, and negative appeals in his speech, makes his message deeply unbelievable. Edwards harsh diction toward opposing opinions makes one view him as attacking other aspects of a different beliefs. In the fifth paragraph Edwards said, "Your wickedness makes you as it were heavy as lead…" This sentence gives a feeling to be a little taken back by his tone. He disgustedly said "your wickedness" like you ,as in non-believers in God, are doing the absolute worst thing in the world.
Dubois also proposes a solutions to the Black community. For Du Bois, education is very important for black folk. In the society where racism exist, education is the path to freedom. Educated folks will know how to lead the community to gain rights. Dubois come to this solutions with the approach of pragmatism.
Introduction: The purpose of this analysis is to examine the rhetorical appeals of an argument presented by two different authors who have written on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. Douglas Eldridge’s, “Why the Benefits of Artificial Intelligence outweigh the Risks” provides the potential positives to the rise of Artificial Intelligence. He dispels some of the common myths regarding the risks of AI, suggesting that these myths are either unfounded or not so risky.
People are most content when they feel as though they have achieved something, that to them, is important. Unfortunately, people often assume that what is important is what other people assume to be important. Therefore, people want to be recognized publicly for something they have achieved that is held as a higher worth above other achievements in the eyes of the public, such as trophies or awards. Throughout many people’s parenting experience an opinion is formed about the topic of participation trophies, different viewpoints say it is uplifting for their child while others say that it is degrading their child. However, I disagree with both sides.
Everyone wants the truth and with Leonard Pitts Jr. you get it. Pitts writes for the Miami Herald daily newspaper in southern Florida. His style is very unique in all of his writings, and different from other authors. Pitts mostly focuses on the outbreak of the daily news. For instance, Don’t Lower The Bar on Education Standards is strictly states lowering the bar will not fix anything it will only decrease the standards.
