Essay On How African America Is Not A Melting Pot

United States is indeed a melting pot. As I mentioned on my paper, Christopher Columbus did discover the land. However before he did, Native Americans were already on the land. The reason I brought this up on my paper was to refer Native Americans as African Americans, Christopher Columbus as White people, and United Stated as Rock and Roll. Even though African Americans first discovered and created Rock and Roll, White people did made some modification to it, and later became the music we hear today. Not only Rock and Roll, as I mentioned on my paper, Trot was also originated from Enka music. This music was Japanese music that Koreans brought when they were under control of Japan, however, they modified some parts and naturally made Trot as their own genre of music. No one cannot take away the credit that African Americans created Rock and Roll, but without White people, especially Elvis Presley because he made it big, Rock and Roll would not have been the music we listen to today. The fact that Ryan added Elvis Presley’s interview of how he gives credit to African Americans was very supportive. This is the proof that Elvis Presley did agree that he got famous with Rock and Roll, but he still gives credit to African American who actually first discovered how to make this genre of music. Another proof that Presley gave credit to African Americas from Ryan’s paper is Presley’s quotation. He said “I explored it. It existed long before I did. It was called rhythm and blues. I just tried a new interpretation.” Presley even mentioned rhythm and blues in this quotation, which was a big contribution of Rock and Roll. With the quote he mentioned, it is hard to say that Presley ‘stole’ the Rock and Roll
