People who have a severed corpus callosum can essentially function as 2 different people at the same time, with the left half of their body performing one task, and the right half another. The book Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner is a unique book because it makes the reader think about our society in a peculiar way. The book take uncommon topics or two opposites ideas and compares the two together to show how similar they are. For example, the two authors compare the Klu Klux Klan to a group of real estate agents, which is interesting because the direct relationship might not be easily apparent, but however they are fairly similar. Dubner, answer questions one may have never thought about or would have never come across, and answer them in a way that is applicable into the real world. Such questions in the book include things such as: What do School Teachers and Sumo Wrestlers Have in Common, How is the Klu Klux Klan like a Group of Real-Estate Agents, and How to be the Perfect Parent….etc.

Emily Dickinson took her liberty to compose such shrewd poetry that was revealed later after her death to the public. Dickinson’s poetry is found perplexing and dramatic, which is clear on why Collins would pick Emily Dickinson as his incentive for this poem. Throughout Collins poem, he uses extended metaphors to expose the reader to understand the profound thoughts of a poet. The biggest parts of learning come from the right side of the brain. Images and knowledge perceived from the right side of the brain help us to understand the words we have. The left side of the brain is primarily language. Understanding something is different than having the words to express it. This is how the two parts of the brain work
The brain is a vital and complex organ. “It controls everything that is happening in the body, like breathing and heartbeats. Therefore, if the brain stops working, the individual is brain dead. This does not mean that the individual is in a coma. It means that the person is dead but the heart is still beating thanks to life support”, (“Brain death”).
In Because I Could Not Stop for Death Dickinson uses alliteration repeatedly to describe her mortal life and immortal life. For example, in line 7 she says, “My labor and my leisure too”. This describes how she put away all the work and all the pleasure of her mortal life. Signifying how none of these mortal aspects matter anymore as death is taking her away. Another example, in line 15, “For only Gossamer, my Gown” Dickinson uses a very eerie form of alliteration as she describes being covered in cob webs, this gossamer is her gown for eternity.
The scene in which King Henry IV confronts Prince Hal is a pivotal moment in their relationship’s development throughout the William Shakespeare’s account of the rebellions against the King’s rule in the play Henry IV Part I. Act 3 Scene 2 offers an insight into the ruling ideologies of Henry and his heir apparent Hal, as rulers, while each character considers the upcoming battle and attempt to determine what makes worthy ruler. Henry expresses unresolved anxiety about how he came into his throne, and his uncertainties about Hal, his successor, while Hal is desperate to recover his father’s trust in him. My group decided to include this scene in our performance because it embodied the evolution of the father-son relationships within the play. Tanya, Gillian and I focused our performance on the dynamics of Henry and Hal’s relationship, and how their relationship informed our understanding of their characters. Particularly, our group centered our performance on the value of the competing political ideologies between the father and son.
There are many different areas in the brain. But there three main parts; the forebrain, the midbrain, and the hindbrain. These three parts are very important. We use these three parts daily. The human brain is the fattest organ in the body and may consist of at least 60% of fat.
The poem that stood out the most while reading this assortment of Emily Dickinson poems, was her poem numbered 656/520. This poem used imagery in numerous ways throughout in order to show the audience the important themes and the overall meaning of this work of literature. The poem’s main theme was about a walk on the beach that the poet encountered in the early morning. Although the poem is about a beach it can also give the audience contextual clues into other aspects of life.
The poems “Because I could not stop for Death” and “I heard a Fly buzz-when I died” by Emily Dickinson both describe death and a journey one takes to get there. In “Because I could not stop for Death” the speaker tells of someones journey of death that did not see it coming and had no time to slow down to notice it. While in the poem “I heard a Fly buzz-when I died” the speaker describes ones journey to death that aware it is coming, someone who is prepared and waiting for it to happen. Death can arrive in many different forms, it is different for everyone and nobody knows or can predict accurately when or how it will come no matter how prepared or not prepared someone is.
Cerebral cortex is divided into four important lobes which is the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe and parietal lobe. These are the first areas of the cerebral cortex to receive signals from each of the senses. The first lobe is frontal lobe which is located at the front of the brain. This lobe works in reasoning, motor skills, higher level cognition and expressive language.
The largest one is the corpus callosum, which causes the link between the two hemispheres. In some cases of epilepsy, this part of the brain is being cut and this way, the spread of epilepsy is blocked. But when it is cut in a normally functioning brain, it causes split brain, and people have disorientation
