The power of the human spirit is a strong force that allows people to achieve greatness. Eminem, one of the most successful rappers of all time, is a prime example of this. Since his childhood, Eminem struggled with many challenges that did not get easier as life went on. Despite this he persevered through his circumstances; He overcame numerous obstacles, worked tirelessly to achieve success, and used his platform to help others. The power of the human spirit drove Eminem to overcome obstacles, work hard, and help others. One of the obstacles he had to overcome was the overbearing amount of critics he faced when he first joined the music scene. According to Holloway, "Only three years ago, he [Eminem] was derided as "The Elvis of hip-hop," or a raw version of the 1980's flattopped performer Vanilla Ice (no comparison could be worse on these streets)... In the end, even skeptics give Eminem credit" (Holloway). This highlights the fact that Eminem was met with harsh skepticism and critics when he entered the music scene. Despite facing numerous obstacles in both his upcoming as a person and a rapper, he overcame them through determination and hard work. Eminem has undeniable talent, but his skill was not through luck. He worked tirelessly to get to where he is today. Not only does he achieve great success but he uses his platform to actively help others and spread awareness of causes he supports. Eminem has changed the lives of thousands through his meaningful lyrics and his efforts to leave the world a better place.
