This is a continuous process in conjunction with a predictable sequence, however it may vary and have a unique progression for every child. It does not develop at the same rate and each stage is influenced by the prior types of development. Social-emotional development being described as the process where children learn to interact with others, communicate, express their feelings, and develop their identity and self-esteem. On the other hand, social development refers to how humans from birth until adulthood learn to interact with others that allows them to ultimately shape healthy relationships, consequently fit into social situations comfortably. It is believed that in order to achieve a healthy social development, it should start from infants, by giving them lots of love, attending to their needs, establish parents’ bonding with their baby, therefore let them to become confident and grow up in a comfortable and socially healthy atmosphere. Social development is essential which enable children to thrive and not merely survive for their future.
The development of the socio-emotional health of children is crucial to their appropriate behavior, understanding of life and transition to adolescence and to adulthood. Socio-emotional development conducive to shape children into what they will become later in life by teaching them the appropriate reactions to emotional matters. Social skills are the ability to cooperate and work with others, paying attention to others, and making reasonable transitions from activity to activity.
