Emotive Language In Michael Murpurgo's Private Peaceful

Michael Murpurgo’s novel “Private Peaceful” intentionally uses emotive language and other useful techniques to effectively show each characters thoughts and feelings throughout the story. Murpurgo has also skilfully linked events that occurred earlier on in the story to events happening later, to prove that each part of the story, when looked into and discussed carefully, can clearly explain exactly the characters thought and feelings about the two locations. My first quote is, “I know that I am living the last moment go my carefree time.” This quote was mentioned earlier on in the the book, to give a brief idea of the view of one of the main characters, Tommo. My first one is, "I hardly had any time to miss anyone, not even Molly..." I believe this quote to strongly show the difference between the two places because of its use of emotive language. When Molly is mentioned earlier on in the book, Tommo describes her as someone he really loves and cares for, however, this seems to change, as we can see from this quote, as his life has become revolved around the war, which means he has no time to do or think about anything or anyone else. If we look back to earlier on in the story, there is a strong link to were he has less feelings for Molly, after he finds out about the ongoing relationship she was having with his brother. This creates the idea that in both these parts of the book, the war has affected Tommo's emotions towards those he once cared
