In this article by the U.S News, Diane Cole expresses the endangerment of polar bears throughout global warming and climate change. This article describes how polar bears are having trouble finding food because of the hot climate. The hot temperature has been melting sea yearly. Stating that polar bears rely on sea ice, it has been crucially life threatening. This article has relevance to my critical analysis because it shows the consequences of global warming and how it has a notable effect on polar bears. The researchers in this article conducted a longitudinal study to determine how depopulated the polar bears have become. “There are 25 percent fewer polar bears than 25 years ago” (Cole, 2009) Cole concluded that if global warming worsens, not only will polar bears depopulate, but it may have a large effect on the human population as well. …show more content…
It has been proven that polar bears are having trouble finding food to eat and are suffering for long periods of time. This relates to my critical analysis because it shows scientific information about the polar bears body mass and weight. The researchers conducted an observation of the polar bears to see how long they could go without food. “The significance of the new study is that it is based on a mathematical model which matches the weight and energy-storing capacity of the bears, which are known – the west Hudson Bay animals are the most closely observed of all polar bear populations – against the annual ice shrinkage and the time they have to spend on land without food.” (McCarthy, 2015) The article concluded that the earlier the climate gets hotter, the longer polar bears must suffer. If the bears are in a hot climate, it is more difficult for them to find the food that they
