Although twins have similar DNA, their epigenetics can be completely different. By researching twins and the possible causes of making them unique from each other, scientists have learned that many things can affect a person’s epigenetics. Some things listed throughout the epigenetics Ted Talk that affect children before and after birth would be stress, diet, drugs and smoking. These outcomes mentioned in the video can affect a child by causing asthma, obesity and or cardio vascular disease. Many scientists have researched the differences that nurture, nature and epigenetics has on people. When researchers specifically look at these three influences they compare how they affect lives before and after birth. Nurture describes how you can change someone’s life by raising them a certain way. An example would be a child excelling in academics, as the child grows older the parents/guardian brings them up to be responsible with their duties. If the child starts excelling at a young age they will be better off in the long run. Another example of nurture would be a child’s personality. The adults living around the child would influence their decisions. If the …show more content…
When a child is born and they develop characteristics, people usually look to their parents for similarities. If the parents do not share the same traits then they assume the sudden changes are caused by nature. Another example of nature taking its course is when children develop intellectual skills at a very young age and become successful. Developing these skills is not given to children by their parents but by chance. Epigenetics play a major role involving your genes. Epigenetic marks are instructions that can change and influence humans and animals by its surrounding cells, diet, and stress levels. These marks can be reversed by drugs. As twins grow their epigenetcs are one of the main things that make them differ from each
