Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo. All of a sudden, Jonas spotted a tangled mass of yellow. Then, more colors appeared, blue and red, then green. Her green eyes were visible as Jonas sat in the bitterly cold snow with Gabriel nuzzled in his chest. He pulled Gabe closer, narrowing his eyes at the woman with bleeding yellow hair. “Your hair,” he murmured in astonishment, “Why is it bleeding?” The woman just laughed to herself and extended her hand towards the children. “Come with me, Jonas,” She offered kindly, “You’ll become ill if you don’t.” Jonas tentatively grasped her chubby hand and struggled to pull himself up. If anyone escaped from a society, it would automatically become a failure and everyone living there would be sent into isolation. Jonas didn’t hear her say that it was vital that others didn’t know of his mistake and was only brought out of his daydream when the slam of a door startled him. “Don’t look so frazzled, Jonas,” Rosemary said, smiling, “That’s my boyfriend, Hashton.
