This key concept Americans pride themselves on is a scam. They embrace ‘America land of the free and home of the brave.’, yet for 200 years plus the country had institutional slavery and few were brave enough to stand out against the practice and break the race barrier both past and present. And if they did they were ridiculed endlessly. A few examples can be found when looking at key black indivuals who embraced their difference and had the will to be brave. Harriet Tubman, risked her life to save many others from gov institutionalized slavery by using a network of the underground railroad. Jesse Owens, a black track runner, broke the race barrier by competing in the 1936 Olympic games held in Nazi Germany. Barack Obama broke the race barrier politically when he ran for presidential office in 2008 and helped inspire a nation of minorities. These inspiration men & women along with many others allowed for change and gave birth to a new future. Furthermore, inequality for minorities has been an issue that no one wants to talk about. This being how white people kill black men then make fun of their kids for not having fathers to raise them. Black lives do matter and need to be protected better by the government. In America, liberty and freedom are these controversial concepts that people in authority just think they can take away when someone breaks a rule. If these social issues were to be evaluated on a smaller scale they would seem so atrocious. In the sense of let's use people as currency and not allow them basic human rights. Furthermore, white christians are so afraid of becoming enslaved by foreign groups such as ISIS but at one point europeans were the terrorist. They invaded and enslaved countless indigenous people and seem to forget that all of the blood shed on american soil can never be washed completely away.
