Lord of the Flies, a novel written by William Golding, focuses on a group of pubescent boys stranded on an uninhabited island and their disastrous attempt of governing themselves. While irrational fighting takes place and the boys lose all sense of humanity, their incapability to think clearly turns them into ravenous animals tearing each other apart. Golding explores the theme of loss of humanity which turns into a war of equality between two different types of people, those who think sensibly and those without reasoning. All over the world today, groups of people are fighting to be equal in gender, race, and religion. Women are marching for their rights, African Americans are rebelling against the brutality and judgement they face, and Muslims fighting to be comfortable in their home, America. People must stop punishing groups of people based on their gender, skin color, and beliefs in order for the world to live …show more content…

“Black Lives Matter”, a protest to bring attention to black lives lost due to police brutality, has proved to be one of the most important protests in history seeing that, “233 African-Americans [were] shot and killed by police in 2016,” and “blacks are “2.5 times as likely as white Americans to be shot and killed by police officers” according to the Washington Post. Labeling certain people “dangerous” and taking their lives based off stereotypes is one of the worst things anyone can do. This prejudice against a certain race has turned opinions on the police force and how the government handles situations. With every life taken, humanity seems to lose more ethics and justice. The world may never be able to work together and reach their full potential if taking an innocent person's life does not change. Very rare are these murderous acts punished because of white privilege. Until this irrational act stops, the world can not improve off
