Not all people get the equality they deserve. People are supposed to be equal, but in fact they are not. Men think less of women and believe they can only do what girls are supposed to do. There are only a few people in the world that are truly equal. This could be in work environments or in the community. Women are still being treated like they are less worthy to do things that men do. This situation is like the blacks being treated worse than the whites in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. Furthermore, women today do not get the treatment that the men do and are very underestimated. Most people believe this is just a stereotype, but in fact it is true. An example would be that men have major leagues but there is nothing for women after college. “The Census Bureau calculates that the median woman in the United States makes 79 cents for every buck paid to the median man.”(Washington Post) On most jobs, women earn slightly less than men, but no matter how little the difference, it is still unfair. …show more content…

Women being mistreated is like the blacks being neglected by the whites. The existence of good and evil is everywhere. Everything has a good and bad side, unless you’re God or a saint. The birds are a symbol of this. Mockingbirds are like men. They are treated with respect and no one ever messes with them because they don’t do anything wrong. The bluejays are like women. They are not respected and no one cares what happens to them. “Shoot all the bluejays if you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (Lee, 90) This shows that no one cares about bluejays because they aren’t peaceful and aren’t mockingbirds.
