On April 20, 1999, two students from Columbine High School carried several guns and bombs into the school. These two shooters were Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. They killed 13 and wounded 23 others during the shooting. It was long after they were done shooting their vitcims that killed themselves. The two shooters may had similar qualties is what brought this tragic event to life. They both had an interest in technology and they were interested in classical philosophers and Renaissance literature. Eric, Dylan, and their friend Brooks were interested in this subject. He marked three boxes: anger, depression, and suicidal thoughts. So Eric’s doctor put him on a prescription called Luvox which is often used as an antidepressant. Before he was taking Luvox he was taking Zoloft. Eric complained about the Zoloft to his doctor since it might have been too effective. According to Cullen, “Everything about Dylan screamed depressive–an extreme case, self-medicating with alcohol. The problem was how that had led to murder. Dylan’s journal read like that of a boy on the road to suicide, not homicide,”(200). Dylan was diagnosed with depression when he was on the brink of suicide. Dylan had done the shooting with Eric since Dylan wanted to die. However, the two shooters seemed to be different in their own ways. They had may differe nt opinions and different motivates towrdas the shooting of Columbine High School. Eric Harris had been dreaming to shoot up the school because he believed in Natural Selection and was angry at the world. Then, Dylan Klebold had gone with the plan to shoot up Columbine since he wanted to kill himself. The plan at the end of the shooting was to kill themselves.
