Eric Patrick Clapton once stated “Music became a healer for me”. Eric went through a tragic time. “Eric lost his son, in 1991, when he was just 4 years old. When getting through this time he wrote the song “Tears in Heaven””. Even as a small child Eric had it rough. “Eric Clapton’s mom abandoned him when he was a child. His grandparents then raised him and he used music as a get away”. Music is a very powerful thing.
Music is very powerful and Loretta Lynn knew how powerful music could be. Lynn hit a rough spot in life. She wrote “Four years after we spent 2 months in Indiana, and that was the last time I seen Daddy alive” (Lynn 66). After Loretta lost her daddy she wrote a song, “Momma Why?”, questioning why God took him so soon. (Lynn 67). She then used this song to cope with the loss of her father. As her singing career continued she knew he was there. In her book she stated “But he never did know me when I was singing- though I feel like daddy has helped me” (Lynn 67). Even after the bump in the road, Loretta continued to work feeling like her dad was helping her along the way. This woman used her musical talent to get through the obstacles thrown at her.
