Monster Hordes Aaron swung his sword at my head, and I barely ducked in time. I stabbed at his ribs with my tiny sword, but he was already swinging with his giant broadsword. “Wham!” his giant sword slammed into my side as he sidestepped my stab. That was going to leave a bruise. “You need more practice,” Aaron said. Physical combat was not my strong suit. Our instructor, Sir Raymond walked over. “The monster army is already marching towards us. You need to be prepared.” The next class was Monsterology. “Today we will be learning about trolls. Does anyone know trolls’ greatest ability?” Mr. Firch asked. “Max?” “Regeneration,” I replied. Yes. Trolls regenerate over time making them extremely hard to kill. Carson, Aaron and I only hit the target about one third of the time. “Thwack, thwack, thwack.” Starrs arrows consistently hit the bullseye. The fourth class was an obstacle course. I was left in the dust. Carson took the lead with his speed and agility. Aaron and Starr struggled for second place. None of them were even breathing hard when I finally reached the end. For our fifth class, we all split up to do one on one lessons with different instructors. I went to Ezra the wizards class. Ezra walked with me out to the sunlit forest for practice. “Today you will learn how to grow a thorn barrier. It will take lots of concentration.” By the end of the class, I could send my mind into the forest floor and grow a thorn patch three feet high and seven feet long. “ With more practice you will get better” Ezra said dismissing me. That night we got to play Hunter. Four teams of four went to different parts of the forest. Everybody was armed with practice weapons and if you got hit you were out. My team was the black team.
